Gail's Place - American Food & Bar
Gail's Place is an authentic slice of America, from food all the way through to music. Order over 200 RMB will be delivered free to most of Guangzhou.
Senses
Senses is a newly opened restaurant specialising in oysters and wine, and aiming at the higher end of the market. Wrapped in red-brick walls, covered in art deco paintings, with three different 'chill-out' areas, a wine & chocolate room, and even Hoegaarden on tap, you can expect a very luxurious evening.
The food is provided by Canadian Chef Jackon Qiu, and is of Western style, supplemented with a very wide selection of wines and cocktails. There is a weekend brunch starting at 9am, and a UK DJ on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (10PM - 2AM).
Lucy's Cafe & Restaurant
Lucy's Cafe & Restaurant is an established Western-style restaurant in the old Shamian district of Guangzhou. They serve everything from burgers to pasta to Tex-mex, and portions are large.
Facing the Pearl River it is also ideally located.
1920 German Restaurant
The reason for this restaurant’s name is that it was built in 1920 by some Germans, and has since then become Guangzhou’s centre for all things Germanic.
As you would expect, the restaurant serves up a fine selection of German food, with imported beers (the 'PulanerWeissBeer' is popular) and sausages. Portions are generally small.
La Seine French Restaurant
La Seine is Guangzhou's leading French restaurant, serving very high quality and delicate meals. It is a favourite location for expats and the nouveaux riche, and Sunday's lunch buffet is always popular.
Located on Er Sha Island inside the Xing Hai concert hall, directly opposite the pearl river and Guangzhou Art Museum, it is ideally situated for an evening of romance and luxury.
Australian Great Barrier Reef Restaurant
The Australian Great Barrier Reef Restaurant serves up a fusion of BBQ, Thai, Cantonese, Japanese, as well as Australian cuisine. Combined with a real Australian chef it is the perfect place to visit if you like seafood, fish, and particularly oysters.
There is a lunch and dinner buffet, and English is spoken.
Madison American Food & Drink
Madison American Food & Drink is a slice of all-American pie in Guangzhou, proving you everything from American steaks to American-style sandwiches.
It has a nice environment and is very suitable for business people to stop by for lunch or dinner. Prices range from 50-100 for starters, and 120-250 for main courses, so tends towards the expensive end. However, pizzas are very well priced (slightly cheaper than Pizza Hut), and Sandwiches are the same price as Subway (18-40). Burgers come with a bountiful supply of beef, and sandwiches are made from freshly cooked bread. Super stuff.
Sportsman's American Restaurant
The Sportsman's American Restaurant is another slice of America in Guangzhou. Spread across two floors not only does it provide a wide selection of authentic American food, but it has a well-stocked bar, along with many bar games and a large upstairs area appropriate for private gatherings.
Salads are great, and pizzas are large and well-stocked (the feta-cheese pizza is particularly good). Most ingredients are imported, and they even make their own homous. Portions are large and prices are very reasonable.
