Was up in GZ a few weeks back - went to Tang for the second time - had a second GREAT night there! The live band absolutely ROCK! :)
We then wandered across the street to The Cavern, is it? DJ Daddy K was scratching and mixing up some of the very best music I've heard since arriving in China!
I've been to the Tang many times, and in this past year (2008) it has slipped to lower and lower srtandards. The music is so-so. The DJ is an unimaginative reggae lover mixed in with east Indian music. NO rock, never anything like the Beatles, and usually has poor performers. If you like black music from the islands, then this is your spot. If you like rock and roll, and swing, go to another bar. Late hours bring in the prostitutes so watch your pockets. It is a classy layout, with poor management. There are better places with much better entertainment to spend your money. Maybe they got rid of the DJ by now. If they didn't they should. He does not have the club's interests in mind, and he certainly does not maximize its potential. One third of the time people are waiting for music to dance to. A high class club with low class entertainment.
